A little rant!

Today, the article is slightly different, there will be no ‘how to’ or ‘recipe’ for wellbeing but a rant! Yes, a rant, because sometimes we need to be really annoyed about what is wrong in our life in order to make better choices and create change.

My rant is about ‘the someone’ who seem to always know what is best for you and how you should live your life because it goes directly against what I feel is the most important thing in life: living it on PURPOSE.

I feel that we are permanently influenced by external sources and as a result, we live a life that is not truly ours. In our grand or great-grandparents time, it was even worse you could say, because parents were often choosing a career path their children, being the family business or the choice of a spouse even. Although that has improved, I know it still happens today and I really wish that anyone in this predicament could confront their parents and tell them: ‘this is MY life and I will decide what I want and how I want to live it – period!’ … at least when they are lucky enough to live in a society that permits them to do so.

And what I equally wish is for people to WAKE UP and realize how heavily manipulated we are into doing stuff we don’t want to do or making a choice that leads to being a person we are not! We are BOMBARDED with reality TV, ads, TV programs, social media etc. constantly showcasing how gorgeous this one is after X and X amount of surgery, showcasing how many followers you get if you are relevant in their world!
The other day I had to get a new phone and my partner and I were served by a bubbly 20 years’ old who already had her lips and nose done! The girl is living with her parents and working 2 jobs to be able to afford surgery, and there was nothing wrong with the way she looked in the first place, in fact, she was probably prettier pre-surgery than post.

I am not ranting about plastic surgery per say, as some people really do need it, but when you do something only because of the amount of pressure you received from an external source, then you lose yourself and you become someone alien to who you really want to be. we asked her why she wanted all that surgery done as she was a pretty girl and she said that she didn't love herself but sadly no amount of telling her that loving yourself starts within would make her change her mind. It is almost like the role models of today are telling us that this is how we should look and outside that box, we are simply not pretty or good enough! How can young, or not so young girls love themselves being reminded of that all the time? They are telling us to dislike ourselves! We should all have the ability to look in the mirror and BE KIND to ourselves.

People die every day, life is forceful and very fragile at the same time. So we really owe it to ourselves to take what’s fun and stop worrying about the rest. But does anyone really know how to enjoy life and make it its own?

Well, some people claim they do! In fact, they sell you a dream by telling you that you will enjoy life ONLY when you are rich! They manipulate you into believing that if you follow their system (and lose a big chunk of your money in doing so), you will get RICH! They say you can trade, become a property expert, become a public speaker even, and that it is easy, and that by giving them your money, they will fast track you to the dream they have for you!! – obviously, they are the only ones getting rich!

Do I believe that we need to be educated to become abundant? YES I do, because unfortunately, schools keep that topic well away from us.
Do I believe that we would all be happier with more money? Let’s say our lives would be easier in a way.
Do I believe that someone should take over who you are by telling you, you will get rich if you follow their system? Absolutely NO I don’t; because not only they promising and not delivering, taking people’s hard earned money, pension and sometimes homes to ‘invest in their education’!  But what I find the most dangerous is that they are planting a seed in your mind that you want to become this or that, although you didn’t have the faintest idea of what that was before you went on the introduction seminar!
Some people are great transformational coaches and speakers, and I highly respect their work and commitment to this planet, but in my rant,
I had to talk about the ‘quick and easy’ crooks.

To answer the question: ‘does anyone really know how to enjoy life and make it its own’? YES, there is someone and that someone is YOU!
If you don’t know what your passion is, then find out, because life goes on fast and like Norman Cousins says: ‘Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live’.

Stay true to yourself, learn to love yourself despite the box people or society want to put you in! Do what you feel like doing, without being selfish but whilst respecting YOU and your choice. Stay connected to your center by saying NO to what doesn’t feel right and YES to life! And meditate, visualize and FEEL grateful for Gratitude will bring you more of what you are grateful for and many other blessings. Melanie from TEP.
