Why is it crucial to know what you want from life?

It is said that if you want to achieve anything, you need to start by knowing what you want. As logical as it may seem, most people just wander from school to university, from uni to their first job, their first job to a better one and so on until they retire… that if they don’t die along the way L!! A bit harsh?? Yes, but isn’t it the simple truth?

So, knowing what you want… take the famous Brian Tracy’s example of being off on a trip; when you are planning to go to a specific place you will most likely set up your GPS!
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It tells you where you are and where you are going because it is linked to satellites able to see from a distance the best way between point A and point B. In order for the GPS to find out the exact location of where you need to go, you need to punch in the address and the door number, if you have the postcode it will be even better because THE MORE PRECISE YOU ARE ABOUT WHERE YOU WANT TO GO THE FASTEST AND THE MORE ACCURATELY YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO YOUR CHOSEN DESTINATION!

This image is perfect to illustrate how life works. The GPS being ‘The Universe’, ‘God’, ‘Luck’, ‘Opportunities’… whatever you want to call it… it will take you there if you follow a few simple rules.

First of all, clarity:
-               What do you want
-               When do you want it
-              ‘WHY’, are the questions you need to ask yourself and answer before acting on anything.

Secondly, you can have several goals but you need to work on them one at a time in order to maximize the energy you put in each goal!
I remember being given another example of two people living in two different villages separated by a river. These people wanted to travel and communicate and knew that in order to do that they would need to build bridges between both villages. In one village, the people had a lot of enthusiasm and several men decided to draw their best plans and started to build a bridge each. Sure enough, the bridges were looking good but in the other village, the same amount of men put their efforts together and instead of building a bridge each, they focused on a single bridge and were soon able to cross over to the other village. The men who built a bridge each didn’t go very far, worse yet, they were distracted by each other construction and ended up giving up on their bridges, or their ‘goal’ as the image explains it.

Thirdly, once you have made a crystal clear description of ONE goal WRITE IT DOWN, have it in your visual space so you can have it around you and focus on it.
Then start building your action plan!

For example:
-    I want to stop smoking
-    By the 1st of January 2018
-    Because I will be much healthier, able to run, not scared of getting sick, I will age better, I won't influence my children to smoke… the more reasons the better!
-   What will you do to become smoking free? Get patches? Start vaping? Reduce the number of cigarettes? Go cold turkey? … Meditate?

An excellent way to hammer your goal in your daily life is to look at yourself in the mirror when repeating it and look at your own eyes and believe this goal is coming your way, feel how you will feel when your goal will be there. Repeating your goal must be like affirmations and they must be filled with emotion.

It is crucial that you control the attention you put on your goal in such a way that not only will it facilitate your plan of action but it will give you the mental energy needed when the going gets tough.

Cutting out images that represent what you want to achieve is an excellent way to give life to your goal, especially if you are a visual person. But the most important part is the emotion behind your vision, it is the driver, the reason why you want that particular goal to come alive and how you will feel when it unfolds. And the emotion is created by your big WHY. We will talk about the big Why in the next article.

And the last but most important factor when you are working on your goal is to be grateful for what you have in your life right now and keep a vibration of abundance because if you are trying to manifest a desire from a vibration of lack you will feel uncompleted and dissatisfied and that is contrary to the good feeling of having your goal manifested.

‘If you are satisfied with where you are and eager for more then that is the formula for happily ever after.’ Abraham Hicks
